Getting Creative with Vintage Jewelry

This is a picture of a hair clip I made using an antique earring. I will show you how I did it below.
Here is a french memo board with some cool old costume jewelry displayed on it. It would look great with some black and white baby pics added here or there.

These are a few closeups of my favorite vintage earrings I found in my mom's collection.

These cameos are so pretty.

You can take some great pictures of old jewelry (the above is actually a glass door knob but I think it looks like a giant diamond). I created some interesting effects using the Picasa software.

This one is a vintage bracelet that I really like. It makes a cool ad.

Now I'll show you how to turn an old earring into a hair clip. I ordered these bobby pins from a dealer on Etsy.

I found an old earring I liked. If you are concerned about lead, you can always buy a test kit at the local hardware store.

This is what the back looks like.

I snipped off the back with this metal snipping tool. My mom gave me a set of wire/jewelry tools a while ago and I use them often.

Get some strong metal to metal glue. I used E 6000. It's a pre mixed epoxy and it's strong.

Let it dry for 24 hours.
And here you will see the finished hair jewelry. Now I can wear something my great grandma wore in a modern way.

This is a great post, you have some beautiful pieces! I love using vintage jewelry, I use it all the time to decorate the frames and candles I sell in my Etsy shop.
