Ruffles, Ruffles Everywhere! I have no girls for them to wear!

Here's my real submission to the Lil Blue Boo Dharma Trading Company Design Challenge.  Okay, so I did make this for someone, as I don't like to waste things. But we're down to the wire here (2 days until the deadline) and our photo shoot didn't really work out. Hopefully, you can picture it on a little girl...a really cute little girl!

I made the hoodie from the same pattern of Lil Blue Boo's as I used for Holden's hoodie, but I made it longer. I have to say that I just guesstimated how long to make it. I can alter it later if I need to. I loved doing the kangaroo pocket. I will definitely be making one of these for Holden! (The pocket, not the dress!)  I used a white shirt of mine that had a big stain on it and a yellow polo shirt of Martin's that had shrunk.  (He has the sleeves-too-short problem a lot.  I tell him he has go-go-gadget arms!)

For the leggings, I used Lil Blue Boo's Lil Leggings pattern. I am kind of unobservant sometimes and I didn't notice that they were capri length. Apparently, Ashley Hacksaw (the creator of Lil Blue Boo) doesn't live in Michigan - LOL! I was thinking of using the pattern to make some PJ pants for Holden, so I'll have to make them significantly longer if I do.

For the shoes, I used permanent fabric glue and tucked all the raw edges under. Then, I glued the ruffles on the back. I also covered the tongue of the shoes, but I won't be doing that again because it made them REALLY stiff! The shoes themselves are kind of stiff, but I'm hoping they'll loosen up after some wear. I sprayed them after everything (except the laces) were put together with a matte spray sealant. I'll get back to you on their ability to handle wear and tear. But, they're super cute, so hey - even if they don't get a ton of use, it's worth it, right?  I made laces from the same fabric as the ruffle on the back.  Here's more detail without the laces.

All in all, I'm pretty much in love with this outfit and I'm planning to duplicate it a few times over for my nieces and some other little girls I know. A girl can never have too many ruffles, right?

Such an adorable outfit...I CAN see it on a little girl. I especially love the shoes! Love me some high tops, even more so if they're girly ones.

That is seriously CUTE! I hope my daughter passes through her current trending in dressing - Paul Frank Boy T's from Target - and back into the girly stuff ASAP!
