My frugal decorating..you can't say it doesn't have character!

I've been looking around my house lately wondering how to change it around and make things look more exciting. I have a serious problem...it's a fact that I love "stuff". If it's old, worn, used or junky you can bet I will like it. The more beat up the better. I have top say I also love contrast so having some new sleek items like leather couches and painted black furniture goes well with old beat up "stuff". Thankfully I convinced my husband to cash in some of his bank stock back in 2004 and buy some nice furniture for the house. He thanks me to this day because the stock is worth about nothing right now!

The above mirror is really old. (and heavy). It has been painted and distressed and I got it dirt cheap. I bought the decal from Uppercase Living and added it. I really like the way it looks.

Here is a lamp I got for $9. It was a little bent but I fixed it.

I am a fan of red polka dots so these Fire King pieces are right up my alley.

I love old books! My husband actually picked these out. He liked that some are textbooks. I liked the colors and aging.

This is an old architectural piece someone faux finished in white. I got it for $5.

I have several of these old architectural stars. I painted a few but also own some in their original condition.

Here is an old trunk I found at an outdoor antique fair about 10 years ago. My mom actually bought it for me for my first house. It has such awesome wear...I love looking at it. The people who sold it to us said it came from China. The hardware on it is so old...I just love it.
