Kids Sports Spirit Gear Fundraiser Ideas

Have you ever thought of using your creative talents to benefit a cause?  It can be very rewarding.   Here are a few ideas I came up with for a swim team to sell.

Do you have any good ideas that are pretty easy to make?

Easy Applique Tee Shirts

I wanted to create some fabric cutouts using my sister's electronic cutting machine she let me borrow (Cricut Expression) I wasn't sure how to do it, but I started by cutting out a piece of 12"x12" pre-washed fabric and applying Heat N Bond to the back using my iron and following the directions on the package. Be careful not to get any of the adhesive on your ironing board cover, or the next person to iron will get adhesive on their new dress shirt for work (sorry husband). I followed the instructions on the electronic cutter and chose a heart and a flower to start with.

I got this sweet little onesie at Target for $1.24. I washed and dried it.

Next I ironed on the fabric cutout after peeling off the paper from the back. (Follow Heat N Bond instructions)

I blanket stitched around the edge of the applique using polyester embroidery thread. You could use whatever stitch you like. You could also stitch around it with your sewing machine.

This is how it turned out.

If you don't have a cutting machine, you could trace shapes or draw them and then cut them out.

This is the flower. I ironed it on but haven't decided what to do with the stitching.

This was the outer piece of the heart. Not sure how I'm going to stitch this one either.

Glittered Gift Tags and other things made from scrap materials

I had some leftover burlap from the $.86 piece I purchased to make my candy cane vase. I didn't want to throw it away so I decided to make a few gift tags. I cut two pieces of burlap a little bigger than the paper tags . I glued one tag inside the burlap for stability. I also glued one of the back.
I used a stamp set I had with owls and birds and just stamped the design I wanted onto the burlap. I purchased a glitter glue pen from Martha Stewart Crafts and went over the area I stamped with the glue pen. Sprinkle some glitter on and you have a glitter design! If you want to use some embroidery thread to stitch around the edge, that's fine, too! Poke a hole through the burlap with a screw driver or pointed object and thread a ribbon through.

I also made another glittery monogrammed button star ornament. These buttons are available in our etsy shop.
The glue writing pen is the key to getting the glitter in the right spot.

Here is a cupcake embellishment or ornament. I cut out an embroidery design I made on my machine and glued pink felt to the back. I'm just learning how to do applique!

Personalized Wall Plaques made with foam core

I made this plaque using scrapbook paper, buttons, ribbon, and a felt "E" I purchased at a local craft store. The foam core is used for the base.

I wrapped the side in grosgrain ribbon.

These are buttons I made and glued to push pins to use as wall hangers.

I made this one with fabric wrapped around the foam core piece.

This one is a frame with a tiny clothespin to clip the picture on!

What a great way to use ribbon scraps!
